Using Map Annotation Tools

You can use the drawing tools on the Map to mark out an area of interest. You will find the drawing tools on the main map and on the map that pops up when you click into a location field. 

💡 TIPS: The following are examples of what you can use the drawing tools to mark on the map:

  • An area of flooding
  • An evacuation area
  • Pin a Last Known Point
  • An area that has been destroyed
  • Pin a Staging Area
  • Mark a road / rail line that is closed

Main Map

These drawing tools available directly on the main map.

ℹī¸ NOTE: The main map is not available in the mobile app.

  1. Access the open Channel
  2. Go to the Map
    1. You can use the 🔍 Search icon to search for places and addresses
  3. Select the shape you wish to use to mark out an area on your map
  4. Click and drag your mouse on the map to create the shape
  5. With Map note still selected from the dropdown, click Add
    1. To link the shape to another module, select the desired option from the Map Note dropdown. This will create an entry in the connected module (e.g., Status Board, Task Boards)
  6. Name the map annotation and choose a color
  7. To edit the map annotation, click on it and a menu will appear allowing you to either edit or delete the drawing


Area (Map Feature) Map

WEB APP

The drawing tools available on the Area (map feature) field.

  1. Access the open channel
  2. Select the Area (map feature) field
  3. Select the shape you wish to use to mark out an area on your map
  4. Click and drag your mouse on the map to create the shape
  5. Click Add
  6. To edit the map annotation, click on it and a menu will appear allowing you to either edit or delete the drawing

MOBILE APP

  1. Open the Incident Management Mobile App
  2. Access the open channel
  3. Select Map
  4. Select the shape you wish to use to mark out an area on your map
  5. Click Save
