Importing Map Layers into a Channel
Once map layers are loaded into Collections in the Admin Area, they become available for use within a Channel. If you only want to import map layers for a specific incident and do not wish to store them for future use, you can load them directly into the map within the channel.
Importing from Collections
- Access the open Channel
- Go to the Map
- Click on the Gear Cog icon
- Select Import Layer
- Your collection data will now be available to import into your channel
- Select Import
Importing from File
ℹ️ NOTES:
- Supported formats are: GeoJson (.json + .geojson), GPS Exchange format (.gpx), Keyhole Markup Language (.kml, .kmz), Shapefile archive (.zip)
- We extract the name from any shape attribute labeled as "name", "Name", "NAME", "label", "Label", "LABEL", "title", "Title", or "TITLE." Use one of these attributes to ensure the names appear on the map.
⚠️ ATTENTION:
- Editing existing map layers isn't possible. Delete and reimport for updates.
- Import file size: For optimal performance, we recommend limiting each layer to 2–3,000 points of interest (POIs). Layers exceeding this range can impact map functionality or account performance.
- Access the open Channel
- Go to the Map
- Click on the Gear Cog icon
- Select Import Layer
- Select File
- Click on 📎 Select a file and choose the file to be uploaded
- Select Import
