Enabling / Disabling Multi Factor Authentication

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your accounts and devices, helping you protect your sensitive information from unauthorized access. While adding MFA is optional for users, D4H strongly recommends having it in place to enhance your account security, especially in the event of email account compromise.

Enabling Multi Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication must be enabled by the user in their own account.

  1. Go to Manage Your D4H Account
  2. Select Update Settings under Multi Factor Authentication
  3. Choose your preferred MFA method, either Authenticator app (more secure) or SMS (less secure)

Authenticator App

  1. Scan or copy the code below to setup the Multi Factor Authentication

  1. Once it is set-up, the multi-factor authentication code will be shown in your app
  2. Verify that your token generator is working correctly by entering the generated six digit code

SMS

  1. Select the country from the dropdown
  2. Type in your phone number
  3. Click Next
  4. Verify your phone number by entering the code sent to your number
  5. Select Next

Disabling Multi Factor Authentication

⛔ī¸ DANGER: Disabling/Deactivating Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) will significantly reduce your account security.

Follow these steps if you're are already logged in to your account and need to disable your MFA.

  1. Go to Manage Your D4H Account
  2. Select Disable under Multi Factor Authentication
  3. Confirm by selecting Disable MFA

Deactivating Multi-Factor Authentication

Follow these steps if you're unable to log in to your account and need to disable your MFA.

User Steps

⚠ī¸ ATTENTION: The code sent via the deactivation instruction email is only valid for 48 hours. If the code isn't entered within this time, the request will be automatically canceled, and you'll need to restart the process.

ℹī¸ NOTE: The account owner who approves the MFA must have their profile on Better way to sign-in, in order to deactivate MFA of another user

  1. Enter in your log in credentials
  2. On the Multi-Factor Authentication screen select Deactivate multi-factor?
  3. Select Initiate MFA Deactivation
  4. An email will be sent to your with further instructions
    1. To proceed with the deactivation, your D4H administrator must approve the request
  5. Provide them with the 6 digit code received in the instructions email
  6. Have your D4H administrator proceed with the below Admin Steps

Admin Steps for Incident Management

🔑 ACCESS LEVEL REQUIRED:  Account Owner

⚠ī¸ ATTENTION: The code sent via the deactivation instruction email is only valid for 48 hours. If the code isn't entered within this time, the request will be automatically canceled, and the user will need to restart the process.

  1. Go to the Admin Area
  2. Expand Collections
  3. Select Personnel
  4. Double click on the Member's name
  5. Select Approve MFA deactivation
  6. Enter in the 6-digit code provided to you by the user
  7. Click Approve MFA Deactivation
  8. MFA is now deactivated for the user

Admin Steps for Personnel & Training, Equipment Management and Incident Reporting

🔑 ACCESS LEVEL REQUIRED:  Editor or Owner

  1. Go to the đŸ‘¤ user menu in the top right
  2. Click on Access Control
  3. In the last column click Approve MFA Activation for the member
  4. Enter in the 6 digit code provided to you by the user
  5. Click Approve MFA Deactivation
  6. MFA is now deactivated for the user
